Labour Ward at Frimley Park Hospital
Labour Ward is suited to women and babies who require additional care, monitoring and specialist input in labour. Women with clinical conditions, complex pregnancies or those who wish to have an epidural in labour will be advised to have their baby on the Labour Ward. This is also the case for women who may have had complications in previous labours, are having twins or have a baby who is in the breech position (feet or bottom first). This is because care is provided by midwives, obstetricians, anaesthetists, neonatal doctors, and other specialists teams who work collaboratively to provide a safe and personalised service.
Frimley Park Labour Ward has 11 birthing rooms, all of which have en-suite bathrooms. All rooms are furnished with machines to monitor your baby’s heart rate, multi positional birthing beds and equipment to care for you in labour and birth. Although rooms are designed for women with more complex needs, rooms can be adapted to reflect a home from home setting to personalise your environment and make you feel at ease.
There is a neonatal unit at Frimley Park, for further information see here.

The Labour Ward is next to the theatres and also has rooms set up to provide high dependency care.
Is there a birthing pool on labour ward?
There is one room equipped with a birthing pool for those who wish to experience a water birth or use water as a means of pain relief. Have a conversation with your midwife as to whether using the pool on the Labour Ward will be advisable and suitable for you.

Visiting times
You are welcome to have a maximum of 2 birthing partners to support you during your labour and birth.
Please be aware that Labour Ward does not have a waiting area to accommodate supporting partners so you may be asked to wait elsewhere.
There is no visiting on Labour Ward but you are welcome to have visitors on the postnatal ward.
