On Friday, 17th May, Oasis, one of the UK's largest charities, launched a new community hub at the Britwell Centre in Slough. The event marked a significant milestone for the Britwell community, bringing together around 100 attendees from various NHS and health providers, local businesses, schools, residents, Slough Borough Council, Hestia, Home Start, and more.

The event featured an impressive lineup of speakers, including Britwell residents Ron and Rosemary representing the Recycled Teenagers group, Gideon Reuben of Britwell Baptist Church, newly sworn-in Slough Mayor Cllr Dhillon, Beechwood School Headteacher Anita Spires, Britwell GP Dr Nithya Nanda from SPINE Primary Care Network and Julie Siddiqi MBE, the Hub Facilitator and Advisor. Oasis Founder Reverend Steve Chalke MBE also spoke passionately about the mission and future of the Britwell Community Hub.

Julie Siddiqi, a Britwell resident and the event's facilitator, expressed her excitement about Oasis choosing Britwell for their newest initiative said "Oasis is a national charity doing amazing and inspirational work all over the UK, and we are so excited that they have chosen Britwell as their newest place to work, in partnership with all of our local groups and partners already here, helping to build stronger communities for a better future”.

Reverend Steve Chalke echoed her sentiments, emphasising the holistic approach of the Oasis Hubs and shared "Oasis Hub Britwell will be a place of holistic, joined-up care that nourishes children, inspires young people, supports parents, and empowers the elderly. At its heart, Oasis Community Hub is dedicated both to the inclusion and flourishing of everyone in Britwell”.

The Britwell Community Hub aims to become a cornerstone for local engagement and support, offering activities such as walking groups, toddler groups, regular residents' meetings, exercise classes (including women-only sessions), sports and outdoor activities, music and art events, and more. It will work closely with local partners and organisations, ensuring that residents are at the heart of decision-making.
